Residents know it by the misleading nickname The Sunshine City. But Harare is battling a number of challenges to restore its former glory. CGTN's Farai Mwakutuya has the story. Eyes for Zimbabwe' & Cecilie Lundgreen This is my story.... by Cecilie Lundgreen All my life I had been doing things for my family, my friends and of course myself. I had never really paid much attention to others in need. In February 2001 I was asked by Reeve Nield and Laurette Maritz to come to Zimbabwe and take part in their charity project 'Eyes for Zimbabwe', their goal was to 'give sight' to those suffering from blindness due to cataracts. I accepted and thought it would be a great African adventure and a good cause. In April 2001 I spent two weeks with nine other 'Ladies European Tour' Professionals in beautiful Zimbabwe, playing golf in fund-raising golf Pro-am's which raised money to purchase the MUCH needed medicines, medical supplies and equipment. All of whic...

Why the Zimbabwe coup is not a revolution. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO On November 14th 2017, Zimbabwe military troops drove tanks into the capital city, Harare. They patrolled the streets, blocked access to government buildings, and took over the state television station to insist…. This is not a military takeover of government. Once praised as a war hero, Robert Mugabe helped Zimbabwe win independence from Great Britain in 1980. He became president under Zimbabwe’s new constitution with the support of the people. But soon, he digressed into a repressive dictator. He secured his power through aggression and threats, there have been reports of state-sponsored torture and killings. And even though Zimbabwe is technically a democracy, there’s evidence Mugabe rigg...

Counterfeit Knockoffs Ever wish you could get ahold of a Louis Vuitton designer handbag or freshly made Italian boots for a fraction of the real price? Well you sort of can nowadays if you're willing to sacrifice a little quality. It might still look like the same thing but the quality is nowhere near the real deal. The knockoff black market brings in about 600 million dollars annually. For handbags that are commonly targeted like chanel, coach, etc. the bag will be made of phony leather that doesn’t feel smooth to the touch. Knockoffs also commonly forget minor details of the real thing, missing pockets an...

Garratt 4-6-4+4-6-4 number 416 heads a chartered mixed freight from Bulawayo to Sawmills in August 2005. Water is taken at Nymandelova. Locals show a remarkably casual attitude to an approaching train on the climb to the bridge here. I apologise for the incorrect start title which says the charter is to Cement - it's actually to Sawmills ! Filmed by Tony Hollins.
